Full bottle 1,303 g. Made from strictly selected, hand-picked grapes from a leased block on the original Martinborough Terrace. RS 2.2 g/l. Intense nose of tropical flowers, more exuberant aromatically than the South Australian 2022 Rieslings I have just been tasting. Wonderfully intense and complex. Very long and rich (without obvious sweetness). I suspect it may develop a little oiliness with time in bottle but it's a lovely wine already. (JR)

The 2022 Riesling leads with a savory nose of sun-drenched hay, cheesecloth and that same white chocolate character that I saw in the older wines, with wafts of umami/white miso, white pepper, preserved citrus rind and even caper brine. It's a wonderful wine, austere in one way, fleshy in another and long through it all. Persistent and textural. Wait, though, because the wine will only grow in stature over time. Hiro picked only 20% of the fruit on the vine for this vintage. Harvest was very challenging, but from challenge emerges triumph. 12% alcohol, sealed under cork.
