The 2020 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru has a crisp, more mineral-driven bouquet than Marc Colin's En Monceau. The oak here is nicely integrated with a subtle petrichor and wilted flower scents that emerge with time. The palate is fresh and vibrant, reasonably rich in style for a Saint-Aubin. The mid-palate has a slight viscosity with a more Chassagne-inspired finish. Again, it's generous to a fault now, begging the question of how it will age in bottle. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Champlots (which actually includes the upper part of the domaine's holdings in En Montceau, where the soils are less red than in the clos) delivers aromas of pear, lime zest, toasted nuts and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and seamless, with racy acids, fine concentration and a penetrating, gently oak-inflected finish, it has turned out well.
The 2020 Saint-Aubin Les Champlots 1er Cru has a fresh, vibrant bouquet of white flowers and peach skin aromas; yellow plum/nectarine scents emerge with time. The palate is well balanced, taut and fresh, with a fine bead of acidity and just a subtle bitter edge on the finish. Drink over the next 8–10 years.
