FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

This has an exuberant nose of sweet, scented raspberries and toasty complexity. It’s bright and fresh, but there’s an almost severe, firm, iron minerality giving a backbone to the wine, with a grip of tannins. Not hugely approachable now, this needs a bit of time in bottle to come together.

An appealingly fresh nose also freely offers up its aromas of the essence of red pinot fruit along with discreet spice wisps, especially anise. Once again the mouthfeel of the middleweight flavors is succulent and fleshy and while not super-dense, I like the sense of energy that carries through to the balanced and inviting finish that could also use better depth.
