Tasting notes
The 2021 McCutcheon Chardonnay is made predominantly with the P58 clone, and that is the source of the sleek phenolics and streamlined flow of fruit in the mouth. In the mouth, the lees express themselves with a miso/tahini creaminess, alongside a cooling brine, white peach, preserved citrus, red apple skins, crushed almond and nougat/ginger spice. The acidity through the finish is exciting—it is lemony and pure and gorgeous. Beautiful wine. What a pleasure. Matured in French oak for 11 months. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

The beautifully detailed and fine 2021 Chardonnay McCutecheon is a picture of restraint with nougat and crushed nut complexity over a grapefruit and spicy oak bed. There's an outstanding balance between pristine layers of citrus and florals with vibrant, mouthwatering acidity. Tightly coiled and young, it is a wine that will grow wings over the next decade.
Sour cream and baked apple on the nose. Complete, balanced – this is drinking better than their Judd and Wallis right now. Slight chew to the texture. Long lemon finish. (RH)
