Score 88/100 · Drink 2021-2030, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Aug 2022

Exhibiting aromas of crisp pear, clear honey and white flowers, the 2020 Aligoté Dorée is medium-bodied, crisp and mineral, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a chalky finish. It's a delicious wine that will reward some bottle age.

Picked 12–13 September; aged half in barrique, half in ‘cuve sphérique’. Mid lemon; light body and slight lees on the nose. It’s elegant and without huge depth and presence. Just the job. Later-harvest maturity counts. (MH)

The 2020 Bourgogne Aligoté Doré had been bottled on the day of my visit, so Champy took this just before. It is matured 70% in used barrels and 30% in stainless steel. It could only an Aligoté on the nose, with apple blossom and peach skin aromas. The palate is fresh and quite saline on the entry, beautifully balanced with a fresh, slightly saline finish. Simply, what Aligoté should be.
