Tasting notes
The 2018 Barolo Bricco San Pietro Vigna d'la Roul is intensely floral at first, then massively tannic on the palate. Iron, dried rose petal, mint, sage and white pepper give the Vigna d'la Roul its strong, distinctive flavor profile. Powerful, incisive tannins lend youthful austerity, some of which will soften in time. This is a very complex, nuanced 2018 from Rocche dei Manzoni.

Engaging nose of richly spiced, ripe red berries, together with hints of black licorice and brighter, sweeter notes of fresh herbs and pressed flowers. Full-bodied with a solid core of fruit and firm tannin that seems to belie the expectations from this vintage. Plenty of structure and the interest never fades through the long, long finish. A triumph in 2018. Wait until 2025 for this one.
