Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Such pretty, sweet, red cherry on the nose. Cherry tart. Dry, tight and fresh, elegant and refined in texture and a little more savoury on the finish. Just a lovely, complete wine and well priced. (JH)

Discreet nose. Lots of juice and appeal but/and a little fatter than the Vallons bottling. For those looking for a little more concentration. (JR)
The 2016 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge Fontaine St. Martin has a tightly wound bouquet, dark berry fruit than the regular Hautes Cotes de Nuits with hints of Earl Grey developing with time in the glass. The palate is crisp and taut with crunchy red and black fruit, a little brittle in texture, moderate length with that faint tea-like scent lingering toward the finish. This is a decent follow-up to the 2015 Hautes Cotes de Nuits Rouge Fontaine St. Martin.
About the producer
The first vintage of Domaine Michel Gros – one of the many Gros family estates in Burgundy – was 1979. The property has several prized vineyards including its monopole Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru, Clos des Réas.
