Score 90-92/100 · Drink 2020-2029, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Croix des Champs comes from a clay/silty soil and includes more than 50% whole cluster fruit, given a little more punching down than the other crus. It has a delightful, expressive bouquet of red berry fruit infused with crushed stone, quite airy in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, fine acidity, very well integrated oak and smooth, seductive, pure raspberry preserve and crushed strawberry fruit. Full of finesse, this is a sublime Gevrey that punches above its weight.
