Tasting notes
After a bit of a bumpy ride in previous vintages, the 2015 White Stones Chardonnay comes back as a phenomenal white with effervescent acidity that makes you salivate and makes the wine extremely long, providing a sensation of freshness and salty minerality. It's austere, serious and a little closed, with subtle aromas and not much fruit, as it's more about stones than grapes (pun intended!). The palate reveals a straight, vertical and laser-cut white, with a backbone of acidity that lifts it up and makes it very long. It finishes with salty flavors that linger on your palate for a very long time. 5,820 bottles produced. it was bottled in July 2016.

(aged in 500-liter barrels; 20% of the wine completed malolactic fermentation): Pale, bright yellow-gold. Captivating nose combines candied pineapple, lavender and an element of almost flinty minerality. Very rich and suave but classically dry, showing Chablis-like crushed rock and herb nuances. This wine really vibrates in the mouth and mounts on the salty, subtly long finish. While it possesses a sold backbone for aging, it's supple now and should be approachable relatively early. Winemaker Vigil works with minimal SO2; he told me he added a bit only in September of '15, after a portion of the wine had finished its malolactic fermentation.
