Moderately saturated dark red. A bit lower-pitched than the Chambolle, with liqueur-like berry aromas complicated by mocha and earth notes. Ripe, plush and sweet, conveying more weight and texture but less energy and definition than the Chambolle, with its red and darker berry flavors complemented by suggestion of coffee. Boasts good material but could use a bit more nuance and grip. The present but initially very supple tannins turn dustier with air. This wine is the lowest in acidity of the 2015s I tasted chez Tardy, at 3.5 grams per liter; most of the other '15s are around 3.8, with the Echézeaux at 3.9.

The 2015 Vosne Romanee Vigneux was raised in 35% new oak. It has a candied quality on the nose with black cherry, blueberry and incense aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, a little chewy on the entry and perhaps the new oak just impresses a little too much towards the spicy finish, thereby detracting some of the terroir expression. I think Tardy made better wines at village cru level in 2015.

Racy and complete. Beautiful balance and composition. Spicy and fruity. Nice grainy finish. (JR)

(from vines below Croix Rameau and Suchots): Red with ruby tones. Pure but reticent aromas of cassis, boysenberry, bitter chocolate and violet. Rich, pliant and fine-grained; suaver than the Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets and finishing with sweeter, more velvety tannins. Nicely made wine with attractive floral, spicy mid-palate lift and a lingering note of bitter chocolate.
