Tasting notes
This south-facing four-hectare vineyard is on a gentle slope with clay and limestone soils ripens late, generally producing a more delicate style of Savigny. The 2022 is deliciously pretty with floral aromatics that combine with vibrant, bright red fruit that is seamlessly ripe. There’s a twist of darker fruit and a pleasing, savoury bitterness to the finish.

Cask sample. Lightish cherry red. Slightly sweeter-fruited than the Monthelie. Red fruit galore enclosed in firmly dry but smooth tannins. A little closed on the palate at the moment. (JH)
Offering up aromas of sweet cherries, plums and licorice, the 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Les Lavières is medium to full-bodied, broad and charming, with a sweet, fleshy core of fruit that largely conceals its supple structuring tannins. This will offer a wide drinking window.
