The 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a feisty bouquet with fennel-tinged citrus fruit and an underlying mineralité that comes through with aeration. It feels backward compared to its peers. The palate is peppery on the entry, with a gentle grip and a keen line of acidity. Linear towards the finish, this feels like a Les Clos that intends to bide its time, and that's not a bad thing. It's one to watch. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Taken from 500-liter used barrel, the 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a rich, slightly honeyed bouquet that needs a little more delineation. The palate is well balanced and, again, rich and honeyed, although I feel that this year it is surpassed by the impressive duo of Montée de Tonnerre and Montmain in terms of precision and terroir expression.
