Score 92/100 · Drink 2023-2035, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Mar 2023

The 2018 Brunello di Montalcino reveals a ripe fruit profile with dried cherry and blackberry confit. The wine is very dry in taste, with oak spice, crushed stone and pressed roses. It feels thin on the mid-palate but extends graciously to a long, polished finish. Again, like many of the new releases from this vintage, we are looking at a near or medium-term drinking window. Production is 40,000 bottles.

Mid ruby with orange tinges. A layer of lifted oak over mature sour-cherry fruit. Lots of rather sour cherry fruit and chewy tannins and could do with a little more substance. (WS)
