The 2022 Condrieu les Terrasses de l'Empire is pure and elegant, offering up aromas of white pear, peach, flowers and honeysuckle, followed by a medium to full-bodied, rich and enrobing palate with a dense, fleshy core of fruit and a sensual palate that segues into a fresh, long and quite saline finish, highlighted by a subtle bitterness. Crafted from several parcels that are in the upper steep slopes of the estate, it's a great classic at this address and, as always, an excellent Condrieu.

Already bottled, the 2022 Condrieu Les Terrasses De L'Empire is gorgeous, offering ripe peach and tangerine notes as well as a beautiful sense of salty minerality on the palate. Coming all from the upper terrasses above the Vernon lieu-dit and vinified and aged all in used oak, this medium-bodied, beautifully balanced, elegant Condrieu should be snatched up by savvy readers. Drink bottles over the coming 3-6 years.

A legendary name, Domaine Georges Vernay crafts some of the finest whites in the world, having championed Condrieu when it was on the brink of extinction. The estate is best known for its single-site Coteau de Vernon Condrieu and is now in the hands of the third and fourth generation of the family.
