Tasting notes
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Le Clos d'Eugénie offers darker fruit on the nose, cranberry and blackberry, light sea cave scents and later, iris flower. I appreciate the reserve, the "coolness" of the aromas. The palate is well balanced and framed by pliant, filigree tannins, the acidity counterbalancing the bright red fruit with aplomb. Very harmonious and poised towards the black pepper tinged finish, this is a delicious and quite irresistible Vosne-Romanée for the vintage. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée le Clos d'Eugénie comprises of four barrels (one new), 25% of the potential volume, the fruit was cut with scissors to eliminate the main stem, 50% total clusters. It has a light earthy bouquet, brambly red fruit, touches of incense emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite linear and strict at the moment though racking will open it out. Fine salinity, quite spicy with a nicely proportioned finish. Give this 2-3 years in bottle.
The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Clos d'Eugénie opens in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries and plums mingled with smoke and peonies. Medium-bodied, ample and fleshy, it's bright and vibrant, with a cool core of fruit and a saline finish. Only four barrels were produced.
