Score 95/100 · Drink 2024-2038, Joaquin Hidalgo, Vinous, Feb 2024
The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Hobbs Estate, from Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, was aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 48% new. A dark garnet red, this nose reveals balsamic cedar notes alongside ripe fruit, currant and cassis marmalade, with hints of menthol. Rich, plush and velvety on the palate, the fine-grained, reactive oak tannins contribute to a well-fitted structure. This is a ripe Cabernet from a generous vintage with a supple palate.
