Dark garnet-colored, the 1982 Barolo Fontanafredda La Rosa is ripe with mature aromas of white truffle, dried strawberries, and dried orange. Medium-bodied, it has a good, rich, and balanced structure that still holds on to its fruit, with notes of bergamot. The fruit holds on through the long finish, with ripe tannins and a nicely rounded feel.

Serralunga d'Alba. Subtle nose, a bit dry and mean. No primary fruit, high acid. Seems thin. Past its peak. (RH)
