The 2016 Belgrave has a high-toned bouquet with red and black fruit, liquorice and sandalwood coming through with time. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy, ripe tannins, quite intense and dense, but there is more freshness and tension on the finish compared to the La Tour Carnet. Give this another 12 months in bottle because this definitely represents outstanding value in today’s market. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting.

The 2016 Belgrave feels a little flabby on the nose compared to its peers, coming across quite earthy in style, open-knit but needing more attack. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, and rather hard on the midpalate, with a brusque finish. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting.
Tasted blind. Perfumed and fruity. Lots of roundness and some charm. Mineral finish. Fairly long. (JR)
