Score 91/100 · Drink 2019-2030, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

Picked already by the middle of September (15th and 18th), Maurice and Jacky's 2014 Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg opens with a very clear and aromatic bouquet of ripe/cooked peaches, but predominantly a rather coolish flavor of crushed and flinty stones. Medium to full-bodied, elegant and lingeringly aromatic on the palate, this is a very elegant, well-structured, dry and mineral Riesling with a tight and linear architecture. The 2014 is not very rich but dry, full of salt, grip and tension. Still a bit bitter in the finish, this is a classic, rather coolish Schlossberg to be aged for another 2-3, and up to 12-15 years. The 2014 fermented down to 13% alcohol and seven grams of residual sugar. (Tasted from lot L 52.)

Granite. RS 7 g/l, TA 8.8 g/l. Cedary lime freshness on the nose. The 7 g/l RS gives a creamy texture more than sweetness. Lovely orange flavours on the palate. Pure and persistent and full of energy and life. (JH)
