This is a site that has benefited from climate change; once too cool, it now thrives in warmer vintages, like 2022. Despite the warmer conditions, it’s very precise with delicate mineral, flint and floral notes. The palate is intense and long, with great balance.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Garenne (Maison Louis Jadot) exhibits aromas of pear, wheat toast, freshly baked bread and hazelnuts, followed by a medium-bodied, satiny and vibrant palate that's bright, precise and linear.

The 2022 Puligny-Montrachet La Garenne 1er Cru is showing a little more oak than other cuvées, though it marries well with the fruit, touches of menthol percolating through with time, quite lively and precocious. The palate is well-balanced and quite intense on the entry, with orange rind and subtle peachy notes. It builds nicely in the glass and fans out with a sense of brio on the finish. This will be difficult to resist when young.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
