Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

Olivier Lamy has just 0.05 hectares of this Grand Cru, on the border of Bâtard Montrachet, planted in 1975 with 24,000 vines per hectare – and it’s always a privilege to taste it. Rich and weighty, this is an extraordinary – a tight ball of fruit at the heart that will need time to unfurl. Despite not revealing everything now, it is round, almost voluptuous, with a satisfying bitterness, dry extract and chalky minerality that lingers on the finish.

The 2022 Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru comes from the only bottle Lamy opened for the barrel tastings (using a Coravin). It has a very intense bouquet with red fruit scents of red cherry and strawberry and hints of crushed stone and jasmine. The palate has exquisite balance, shimmering tension and a keen thread of mineralité with a vibrant and persistent finish that goes on and on. This is stunning.
