Tasting Notes
From a 0.21-hectare plot of this top Premier Cru, this is a stunning wine in 2022 – living up to the charm its name promises. Crushed florals – peony, violet and iris – dance alongside sweet wild strawberry, raspberry and plump blueberry on the nose. There’s a core of dense, vibrant fruit at its heart, the wine showing a generous plushness this year, yet retaining such elegance. It flows across the palate, juicy and fresh, with a mineral touch and zesty lift.

Once again there is a highly attractive freshness to the bright, airy and cool aromas of essence of red cherry, anise, violet and rose petal. Like the Murgers, the middleweight flavors are not especially dense but possess a lilting and silky mouthfeel that is wonderfully appealing before terminating in a dusty, stony, moderately austere and sneaky long finale that doesn't lack for aging potential. This is not only quite good but also quite classy. Drink 2034+
Mid crimson ruby. Quite sensual on the nose, with light youthful bitters on the palate, while the fruit profile is raspberry more than other red berries. Decent density here, and fair persistence but not quite the same class as the Nuits-St-Georges Murgers.
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Charmes is a beauty, bursting with aromas of red cherries, raspberries, rose petals and spices. Medium to full-bodied, supple and sensual, with a deep core of pure, vibrant fruit framed by bright acids and supple tannins, it concludes with a saline finish.
