Score 94-96/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2024

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru is beautifully pure and complete, unfurling in the glass with notes of red berries and cherries mingled with hints of rose petal, smoked tea and spices. Full-bodied, deep and seamless, with a multidimensional core of cool, vibrant fruit, it concludes with a long, saline finish.

The 2022 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru comes from the terres blanches and includes 50% whole bunches and 50% new oak. This tends to produce small berries with low juice. It has plenty of black plum and raspberry fruit on the nose, plus crushed limestone and oyster shell aromas. The oak is beautifully enmeshed. The medium-bodied palate with fine-grain tannins is quite structured and "serious," with black pepper and light graphite notes towards the grippy finish. This will definitely require time in bottle.
