Tasting notes
This Premier Cru vineyard ripens early, with very poor, white, chalky, limestone-rich soils. The nose is pure blueberry compote, with a brightness and touch of toast. The palate offers a chalky grip of tannins, but a rolling mouthful of dark and creamy fruit – blackberry and dark cherry complementing the blueberry. Impressive.

Cask sample. Mid crimson and darker than most among the Bouchard 2022 reds tasted so far. Rich, ripe red and black fruit. Chewy, deep, satisfying. Firm and a complete baby (of course). Great balance even now though the tannins are calling the shots. Needs quite a bit of time. (JH)
The 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Cailles opens in the glass with aromas of sweet cherries, berries and plums mingled with hints of rose petals and baking chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, fleshy and textural, it's suave and refined, with polished tannins and a mineral finish.
