Drink 2027-2040, FINE+RARE, Nov 2023

Coming from a 0.5-hectare plot in the lowest part of Clos Saint Jean, the iron-rich soil here makes for one of the warmest sites in Chassagne-Montrachet. The wine spent 18 months on lees (12 of which were in oak, 50% foudre and 50% barrique). On the nose, it is very profound and multilayered. On the palate it is a bold wine, mouth-coating and evolving to offer more tension toward the finish with bright acidity kicking in on the mid-palate. Beautiful freshness balances the richness of fruit. This is a beautiful wine which will need a few years in bottle to show its full potential.

This textured white has aromas and flavors of grapefruit, citrus rind, flint and apple crumble. Full-bodied, creamy and layered, with mineral, chalky undertones. Drink now or hold.
