The 2019 Beau-Site has a typical earthy Saint-Estèphe bouquet, quite forward and expressive; touches of undergrowth, wild heather and tea leaf permeate the black fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and well-judged acidity, and less austere than out of barrel since there is a little more fruit. Classic Claret. I would enjoy this over the next 15 years.
The 2019 Beau-Site needs a little time to settle in the glass. Eventually it coalesces to reveal red plum, hawthorn and sous-bois scents, and a touch of clove in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins on the entry, quite "old school" in style with a slightly austere finish, though partnered on the dinner table I can imagine it being drunk quicker than you would imagine. For those who like Claret how it used to be...
This Saint-Estèphe estate has turned out an enjoyable 2019 Château Beau-Site that has plenty of darker red and black fruits, notes of cedarwood and earthy herbs, medium body, and a concentrated, straight, firm style on the palate. This enjoyable 2019 will keep for 8-10 years or more.
