Tasting notes
Good bright, dark red. Reduced, musky aromas of black and red cherry, dark berries, spices and licorice; less advanced in its élevage owing to a very late malolactic fermentation but already aromatically complex. Plush, fat and saline, displaying superb concentration and lift to its primary fruit flavors. Production here was a moderate 35 hectoliters per hectare as these very old vines never yield a big crop.

The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Malconsorts was showing a harmonious, well defined bouquet with hints of pressed flowers filtering through the red and black fruit. The palate is candied on the entry with sorbet-like freshness, subtle touches of marmalade and quince infusing the energetic citrus-fresh fruit, with a long finish that fans out beautifully. This is an outstanding Vosne-Romanée Malconsorts from winemaker Charles Van Canneyt.
