The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru has a splendid bouquet that manages to translate the precocity of the growing season whilst keeping everything under control. Pure red cherries intermingle with crushed strawberry and traces of blue fruit; violet notes emerge with time. The palate is beautifully balanced with succulent ripe tannins that frame the velvety-textured, pure red and blue fruit. Plush in style, yet never overripe or blowsy. The only problem with this Grands Echézeaux is that it is difficult to resist young. Superb.

The 2018 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru has turned out beautifully, unwinding in the glass with a youthfully reserved nose of raspberries and plums, complemented by nuances of rose petals, spices and orange rind. Full-bodied, layered and concentrated, it's deep and multidimensional, with lively acids and beautifully refined tannins. This exhibits terrific potential for sustained bottle age.
