The 2021 Vosne-Romanée Village was showing a bit of reduction on the nose that made it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, gentle grip, quite tensile with an insistent grip. I appreciate the balance and poise here. A countervailing bitter note lends tension from start to finish. Very fine.

The 2021 Vosne-Romanée is more reserved than the open-knit Gevrey, exhibiting aromas of sweet plums, orange zest, petals and spices. Medium-bodied, lively and compact, with powdery tannins and bright acids, it will require more patience.
