The 2017 Barbera d'Alba is another tasty, entry-level offering from Scavino. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and dark spice all flesh out in this supple, juicy Barbera. All the elements are in the right place.

Mid-deep purple – surprisingly deep for Barbera. Youthful, crisp black-cherry fruit with nicely complementary toasty oak. Brisk acidity and a fair amount of quite fine tannic structure too. Polished, ripe black cherry and spice. Not the most complex, but very well handled, with pretty good length. GV (TJ)
