Score 96/100 · Drink 2030-2050, Anne Krebiehl MW, Vinous, Jun 2023

The 2021 Riesling Wiltinger Gottesfuss Alte Reben Grosses Gewächs is from an extremely steep, dry site of very poor, iron-rich soil with ancient vines. The oldest parcel was planted in 1893 on its own roots. The nose is of very subtle zest - hints of yellow fruit shimmer but are not definite - this does not want to give up its secrets easily. The palate seems buffered in its freshness yet of almost blinding brightness. This is serene, absolute, stony and for now also a little austere. It teases us with glimpses of fruit but draws the flavor down into the stone. Very powerful. Leave this alone and be patient. This is a treasure. (Dry)
