Tasting notes
The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with a pure and expressive bouquet of strawberries, rose petals, blood orange and dark chocolate. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a layered, concentrated mid-palate, its supple tannins cloaked in almost unctuous but succulent fruit, its finish long and fragrant. This is a very promising village Vosne that punches above its weight.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée Charmes des Mazières 1er Cru is showing some VA on the nose that is masking the terroir expression. The palate is sweet and candied with rather aggressive tannin, possibly overdone in the winery, although I can abide the grainy, quite masculine finish. But will that dry out with age? Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.
Heady on the nose but too sweet on the palate. Really sickly overall. (JR)
