Tasting notes
The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is perfumed and exotic, showing autumnal spices mixed with rich cherry sauce, followed by lifting hints of cedar and sweet smoke. It’s more energetic and purely fruit-driven than anticipated, with mineral-tinged red currants and plums cascading over a core of zesty acidity. This vibrant performance continues through the finale, where only hints of fine tannin frame the balsam herbs and nuances of tobacco that linger on. While a bit showy, the 2016 Riserva is packed full of character.
