Neive. Palish ruby. Lifted, perfumed, ripe raspberry. Gorgeous, expressive raspberry fruit of great purity. Bags of chewy tannins complementing the fruit. Conveys a sense of lightness. (WS)

Sweet liquorice flavour. More intense and sweeter than the Serafino, Montestefano 2019 tasted alongside. Sweet then tannic. Still youthful. (JR)

The 2019 Barbaresco Albesani Santo Stefano is deep and beautifully resonant in the glass. Bright red fruit, crushed flowers, tobacco, incense and orange peel open first, lending quite a bit of aromatic presence. Another year or two will help the tannins soften. All this needs is a bit more focus to make the leap into the next level.

Some evolution on the nose. Quite rich fruit on palate entry. Not too much ethereal quality. Bumptious. (JR)
