The 2015 Chablis Vaudésir Grand Cru has a clean, ripe bouquet of honeysuckle, mango and clementine; the tropical tones are not as obvious as those of its peers, and the oak treatment here is judicious. The well-balanced palate presents a slightly honeyed opening and a saline undertow. There is admirable depth here, and the crisp, quite linear finish lingers in the mouth. Not bad, but missing a little substance. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

From one of the top sites in the appellation, the 2015 Grand Cru Vaudesir is another incredibly textured, rich, layered Chablis that delivers the goods. Buttered citrus, flowers, a touch of minerality and stone fruits all emerge from this rich, ripe, sexy Chablis that has an incredible amount of texture and depth. It's not going to appeal to people craving acidity but is impressive nonetheless and will keep for a decade or more.

Pale, bright yellow. Apple, white peach, white flowers and powdered stone on the pure, classic nose. Dense, savory, concentrated grand cru with lovely balance and lift to its flavors of lemon, lime and saline stony minerality. A very bright 2015 with serious intensity, energy and length--still tight in a youthful way. Finishes with excellent floral lift.

Tank sample. Ripe, sweet apricot fruit and a glossy, viscous palate. Good length, but it isn't quite dense or complex enough for a very long life, methinks. (RH)
