The 2017 Corton Grand Cru is tightly wound, delineated and quite mineral-driven, although it clearly requires time. The palate is medium-bodied and lightly spiced, with brambly red fruit and fine acidity. It just feels a little one-dimensional compared to its peers and needs to develop more personality and complexity. Enjoyable, but not profound or memorable. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Corton Grand Cru, which comes from the lieu-dit of Les Combes, has quite an elegant bouquet of perfumed black cherries, raspberry preserve and light rose petal aromas. The palate is medium-bodied and quite strict and linear, displaying supple tannin and touches of baking powder toward the finish. It’s just missing that final kick that would give it some spark, but maybe that will develop in bottle. Give it three or four years.
