The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a generous fruit-forward nose with gushing red cherry and crushed strawberry scents. There's something a little "tinny" about this. The palate is soft on the entry with sour cherry and graphite notes to the fore, but the finish feels a bit raw and undernourished. This feels quite evolved and I'm not sure about its future, hence my parsimonious score. I wonder how representative this example is. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with bright red berry fruit, crushed stone, orange pith and light bay leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit on the opening, fine acidity, quite dense towards the finish with a dash of white pepper and allspice lingering on the aftertaste. Very fine.
A fresh and distinctly cool nose is comprised by airy and laudably pure notes of red pinot fruit, green tea, earth and soft spice hints. There is a beguiling sense of underlying tension to the detailed and precise middleweight flavors that possess fine balance and excellent length on the saline-suffused finish where a touch of sweetness slowly emerges. This could use better depth, but the potential aging curve should allow more to develop
