Tasting notes
The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Vigneux offers attractive red currant and wild strawberry scents on the nose, which is cohesive and focused if not quite as charming as the 2019. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grained tannins, soft red berry fruit and fine acidity, tapering in slightly toward the finish, where I would have liked a little more flesh. Hopefully that will develop with bottle age.

The 2018 Vosne-Romanée Vigneux, matured in around 35% new oak, has a precocious and more floral bouquet than the Chambolle-Musigny; pressed violets infuse the red fruit, which requires just a little more cohesion. The palate is medium-bodied with a slightly savory/meaty opening and plenty of brown spices, but just a little disjointed toward the finish at the moment. Let’s see how this develops once in bottle.
