Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Argillières 1er Cru was stunning from barrel, but now in bottle it has a rather introspective nose: dark berry fruit, iodine and a touch of violet. It's missing a little amplitude but evolves nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent tannins, quite sweet and high-toned, though missing some Pinoté on the finish that shows a little heat. This is disappointing given its showing from barrel. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos des Argillières 1er Cru, matured with 40% whole bunch, offers fleshy ripe black cherries, raspberry coulis and marmalade scents on the nose, a touch of bloody orange (freshly squeezed) emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with layers of pure red and black fruit. Svelte, velvety and utterly seductive, it does not stint on precision and persistence on the white pepper finish. This is a brilliant Clos des Argillieres from Rion
