Tasting notes
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru has a more dense, compact bouquet, showing darker fruit than its peers with a discreet marine element. Returning after ten minutes, there is real complexity and terroir expression. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chalky tannins, a crisp line of acidity, more sapidity and bite than Boillot's Champonnet, and all that is missing is a little persistence that a more propitious lieu-dit might have given. Still, this is very fine. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Gentle red fruit on the palate. Subtle and fine. Sweetness of fruit. Lots of finesse. Nice oak. Not a blockbuster. Not great value perhaps but there is class here. (AWH)
The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru has a lovely bouquet with red berry fruit, undergrowth, just a touch of stem addition here, though simpatico with the fruit. The palate is beautifully-defined with vivacious red fruit, more precision and focus compared to the La Perrière with a tender, lingering finish. Bon vin!
