Tasting notes
Score 93/100 · Drink 2019-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Apr 2012

The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Petits Monts comes across as rich, deep and very powerful. It boasts tons of energy and sheer texture. Sweet notes of tobacco, licorice, menthol and crushed flowers come together in the glass. Ultimately structure prevails in defining the wine's personality. This is going to be a fun wine to taste in a few years, once the tannins have softened a bit.

Louis-Michel Liger-Belair’s 2009s have turned out just as great as I thought they would. These are some of the most personal, intimate wines being made in Burgundy. There really is nothing else that even closely resembles the house style. Importer: Grand Cru Selections, New York, NY; tel. (212) 974-2500

Good deep red. Superripe, almost candied red fruits and cotton candy on the nose. At once sweet and thick, with solid minerality giving shape to the raspberry and spice flavors. Tannins are serious but sweet. The explosive, mouth-saturating finish leaves the taste buds quivering.

Lively and quite delicate on the nose. Racy, fine boned. Very contained. Needs to unfurl a bit, but the finish is impressively long already. Lots of sweet fruit in embryonic state. (JR)
