Score 93-95/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2018
(from Mazis-Hauts, not frosted in 2016; no new oak used, as with the Clos Saint-Denis): Bright ruby-red. Piquant aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, violet and crushed rock, further lifted by pungent notes of blood orange and pineapple. Silky, graceful wine with terrific inner-mouth energy and tension. With the Clos Saint-Denis, this appears to be the best of a strong set of '16s here. Finishes with noble tannins and superb subtle length. I can imagine this wine offering relatively early accessibility but it should age slowly and gracefully on its powerful minerality. "My style of wine," notes Charlopin. Mine, too.
