Tasting notes
Clément Boillot opted to retain only the old vines for his 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Chatelots, declassifying the younger plantings into the domaine's generic Chambolle-Musigny. Bursting with notes of minty cherries, sweet berries and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and vibrant, with impressive concentration and tension.

Cask sample. Toasty nose. Lots of fruit but the bitterness dominates. Though it is very vivacious and I think the fruit will triumph eventually. (JR)
There are also just two barrels of the 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Chatelots 1er Cru this year, though this cuvée works better than the Aux Combettes at the moment. There is more fruit concentration on the nose with attractive blackcurrant, wild strawberry and briary scents. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe black cherry and strawberry fruit, fine mineralité and quite a deep, lightly grippy finish. Very fine.
