Score 87-89/100 · Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Mar 2008

(50% new oak; these vines are now 70 years old, according to Elisabeth Amiot) Good full medium red. Musky cassis, blackberry and black cherry on the nose, along with a hint of torrefaction. Rich, suave and fairly full but classically dry, with firm minerality currently keeping the fresh fruit under wraps. This is actually quite closed now, and rather tannic on the persistent finish. Less sweet than the Charmes.
