Tasting notes
Score 87/100 · Drink 1994-2009, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

The 1993 exhibits a saturated dark ruby/purple color, and a tight but excellent nose of ripe, black cherry and cassis fruit, minerals, and toasty new oak. The wine possesses excellent flavor concentration and fatness (not a trait of many 1993 clarets), a ripe, chewy texture, and a long, heady, rich, moderately tannic finish. The fruit and tannin suggest it should be drunk early; it should last for 10-15 years. Last tasted 11/94

La Louviere

Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
