Score 89/100 · Drink 2000-2012, Robert Parker, Jan 1998

La Louviere is one of Pessac-Leognan's up and coming stars for both red and white wines. The 1994, one of the sleepers of the vintage, is well worth buying. Its deep ruby/purple color, and smoky, black currant, herb-tinged nose are provocative. It is rich, powerful, and dense, with moderate tannin, excellent to outstanding concentration, and admirable purity. This is an impressively-endowed wine for drinking between 2000-2012. Light-bodied, uninteresting flavors make for a bland impression

La Louviere

Wine has been made at this estate since the 1300s, but its modern history begins when the Lurton family purchased it in 1965. The property was in disrepair, but the Lurtons have restored the château, winery and vineyards.
