This 12-bottle case is a vertical of every vintage of Porseleinberg ever produced, from 2010 to 2021 – including the 2011 which was made in such miniscule volumes that they decided not to release it (until now). It offers a fascinating view of one of South Africa’s most iconic wines, fine Syrah from the special schist soils atop the Porseleinberg mountain in the Swartland, crafted by winemaker Callie Louw. The evolution of the wine is extraordinary, with a significant shift from the 2018 vintage when Louw started using the submerged cap technique for fermentation, inspired by a visit to Domaine Jamet, producing a more aromatic and approachable style versus the more austere and brooding earlier vintages. A rare opportunity to taste 12 vintages of this extraordinary wine (which is consistently rated highly by top critics), availability is extremely limited. The 12-bottle case includes one bottle (75cl) each of the 2010 to 2021 vintages of Porseleinberg.
About the producer
Porseleinberg is a single-site Syrah from the Swartland that has, since its first vintage in 2010, become one of South Africa’s most celebrated and sought-after wines. Made by cult winemaker Callie Louw from incredibly poor soils on the slopes of the Porseleinberg, the wine is rightfully revered.
