Score 91-93/100 · Drink 2018-2035, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2014

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru les Champeaux is a broody little bugger on the nose and even with vigorous swirling it only reluctantly reveals enticing marine scents. The palate is medium-bodied with taut tannins. There is very good minerality here and a strong saline finish. Give this 3-4 years in bottle because it clearly has the substance to evolve over the long-term, but may end up one of Jean-Marie's more masculine Premier Crus.

Scented and medium intensity. Racy and with real line. But certainly a bit of a ballerina rather than a muscle man. (JR)
