Score 90/100 · Drink 2014-2022, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Feb 2014

The 1997 Brunello di Montalcino shows steady aging with meaty tones and leather backed by espresso, tar, coffee and licorice stick. This is a voluptuous and soft wine with well rounded sensations of dried fruit and spice. Perhaps it shows a little less dimension than the 1999 expression, but this wine pleases nonetheless. Earthy tones and ash make a fitting endnote. Drink: 2014-2022.
