Tasting notes
Bright, dark red. Complex perfume of raspberry, red licorice, minerals and flowers. Juicy, minerally and sharply delineated, showing lovely calcaire energy in the middle palate. Very floral, suave Barolo with rich, sweet tannins and a slowly building, very long finish boasting excellent lift. Quite classic in the context of the year.

The 2007 Barolo Vigna d'la Roul explodes onto the palate with masses of dark fruit, mocha, spices, licorice and tar, showing considerable muscle. Despite its size, the wine possesses tons of textural finesse in the expansive style of the year. I loved it.

Monforte d'Alba. Crimson. Very lifted cherry and bacon. Very rich and sweet and oak-driven. (WS)
